I'd Give It 6 Stars If I Didn't Already Lick the Plate Clean The Cutlery in Kaimuki... where do I even begin? I came hungry and left questioning every life choice that didn't lead me to this meal sooner. Let's start with the prime rib. Juicy, tender, and seasoned like it was blessed by the meat gods themselves. I cut into it and swear I heard a choir sing. I'm still dreaming about it--and possibly naming my next pet after it. Truffle mashed potatoes? Out. Of. This. World. I took one bite and instantly grew more sophisticated. I now speak with a slight British accent and wear a monocle. The mushroom medley? Absolute perfection. Those shrooms were sautéed so lovingly I almost felt bad for eating them. Almost. The smoked meat appetizer was a wild ride of sweet and savory--like a luau and a campfire had a baby and fed it to me. And let's talk about the mud pie dessert. Oh. My. Goodness. One bite and I was transported back to childhood birthday parties, minus the awkward family photos. It's cold, creamy, crunchy, chocolaty magic stacked sky-high and covered in whipped dreams and drizzled destiny. Service? On point. Vibes? Chill but classy. Price? Worth every single cent, and possibly a kidney. Bottom line: The Cutlery isn't just a meal--it's an experience, a spiritual journey, and a warm hug from your taste buds. Go. Eat. Thank me later. 5/5 Stars. Will return. Might move in.

Upon looking up 'steak' on Yelp, The Cutlery was one of the most recommended. Made our way towards here, located in Kaimuki, on Waialae and 9th Ave. 9th Ave is a one way, so when you turn, The Cutlery is on the right, and the parking is the 2nd turn on the right. The first turn looked small and kind of tricky. There was a sign on the sidewalk for where to park for The Cutlery, and other establishments in the area, so just look for that, and there was an attendant. First time here, and it was pretty cool. They have bar seating, high table seats, and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor seating. Nice thing about the outdoor seating was the bushes were really high, so that was cool for some privacy. The downfall is flys, bugs, and chickens if you go when the sun is still out. There were chickens on the grass right outside the outdoor seating too. It was so funny cuz at one point, it crowed, and me and another lady looked at each other like "wtf lol" lol but regardless of the flies, bugs and chickens, cuz we went right when it opened at 5, sun was still out, the drinks were good, the food was good, the customer service was good, and it was just a nice time. I ordered a li hing margarita, which wasn't on the menu, but they were able to make it for me, and it was lovely, so thank you for that! Wife had a coke, and the sodas are bottomless, so she was happy. Wife ordered pulehu tako. I'm not a fan of tako, but when I tried this, oh man... it was so good. The pulehu tako was so soft and not hard and chewy. And it had a nice bbq flavor, and the green sauce was good too. It's a small serving for 2 people but it was enough to share between us. For our entrees I got the ribeye and wife got the prime rib. Our sides were rice, mushroom medley and lobster tail. Everything is Ala carte. I heard and saw that when making reservations online in advanced, you should order your prime rib when you make your reservations to reserve your piece and for preparation purposes?! We went on a Friday, no reservations, right when they opened at 5, so we got lucky with the prime rib for coming early. The meats were good, all kiawe smoked. We did order medium well, but it was kind of too well, rarely any pink.. but it's all good. We still enjoyed it. The lobster tail tasted to oceany to me, but that's just me I guess lol. The mushroom medley was good. Awesome customer service. According to my receipt, our server was Kaitlyn. She was super friendly, nice, and very informative when explaining the specials and dishes. And we got the dessert, their mud pie! That was delish too. All the girls were so nice and attentive checking on us, from the host, to the servers, to the busser. Would we come here again, most definitely! 10/10 recommend.

We went there on Valentine's Day, and the food was spectacular. They were willing to accommodate us last minute and even sat us early. Despite being right on Waialae Avenue, the outside seating wasn't noisy. All the staff were helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. We had the porterhouse for two but it could easily feed 3 people, and the bone marrow appetizer was simply amazing. The kids meal was adult-sized and my son was happy to report that the smoked meat was delicious. The duck fat fries were so decadent and perfectly crispy, it was an instant hit at the table. The mashed potatoes were creamy and went with everything, including the duck fat fries lol; DOUBLE STARCH POWER! We shared had the crème brûlée for dessert and it was so smooth, probably the best crème brûlée I've had in some time! Would definitely recommend, and am excited to return soon!

I went to The Cutlery recently with a group of 9, and it was a pretty solid experience. They asked for our orders 48 hours ahead of time because of the big party. The appetizers and mains were amazing--seriously, no complaints there. One thing to keep in mind though: the portions are *huge*. Like, the mashed potatoes could easily feed 3-4 people. And if you're into rich sides, the bone marrow with pickled onions was next-level good. The meats are all smoked with keawe wood, and you can really taste that smoky depth in everything. I had the seafood pasta for my main, and it was really well done--fresh seafood, great flavor, no complaints. Overall, it was a great meal, especially if you like bold, flavorful dishes. Just maybe go with an appetite--or plan to share!

Can't say enough good things about this place. The food was excellent. The prime rib was super tender and they didn't skimp in the horseradish and au jus. The salad's were fresh and the portions were big. The bone marrow appetizer was delicious. We loved the brussel spout side, the mashed potatoes and fries. Everything was spot on. Service was excellent, the waitress was very friendly. The food always comes out perfectly timed. The only thing I would say negative about this place is that the prime rib came with 2 big pieces of fat. I know some locals love this, but I personally do not. If you get the back room, the atmosphere is very intimate and it's not too bright. Make sure you arrive early because their parking lot fills up fast. Overall, this is a must go to restaurant.

Light up menus?! What.... I've never been to a place that had light up menus- so I thought that was a nice touch. We were seated inside where it was quiet and dimly lit. I came here for one thing - the 7 hour Kiawe Smoked Prime Rib ($60). I'm a big carnivore eater, so whenever I have a chance to eat red meat, I take it! It did not disappoint! It was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, slight smoky flavor from the Kiawe wood and had endless au jus to dip in. You can only order this on the weekends and MUST state that you would like to reserve a prime rib in OpenTable. Otherwise, they do run out sometimes. The Oxtail Ragu was very flavorful, hearty and comforting dish, on the heavier side but we did enjoy it. The Oxtail was very tender. We also ordered their mushrooms and duck fat fries which were a larger portion than I expected. Duck fat had a subtle taste, but incredibly crispy - the way I like it! Definitely great to share with the table. We took some leftovers home. This is a casual and comfortable spot that locals can enjoy in the lovely neighborhood of Kaimuki. So many great eateries, and this happens to be another nice gem. I think what stands out is the larger portions for high quality and "finer" dining experience of Kaimuki. You can show up in your tshirt and slippas and they'll still serve you here with no judgement. Easy to make reservations online OpenTable. Parking lot available, there was an attendant there that showed us where to park. Easy peasy. Service was really friendly and attentive as well! Recommend!
